DNS, IP Address Management and Infrastructure 2.0
Greg Ness (Infoblox)
A few days ago I posted a lengthy blog about the coming pressures on IT to automate their networks in response to the coming demands of virtualization and cloud computing. A subtle point buried in the blog was related to the growing importance of IP address management and dedicated DNS appliances, among other solutions that help networks keep up with rising complexity and change factors.
If you missed the point because the blog had too much information here you go:
Navigation is Everything: The DNS, DHCP, IPAM Revolution
This growing realization has fueled new solution categories automating and leveraging the now strategic core network service databases that help to guide traffic, including DNS appliances, IP address management appliances, as well as policy automation appliances, and hosts of cloud management software offerings.
Everyone is aware that networks are continuing to grow despite level or declining network management budgets. Yet many network pros are still managing networks the same way that they did when networks were small, simple and less operationally significant.
